Two Rivers Update #1 (5-hour) – 11/14/2017

Greetings racers!

We are less than three weeks out for the Two Rivers Adventure Race, and as the race approaches, we wanted to share with you a few details to get you ready for December 2.

The Monday before the race, we will send out a second update with the start location and a rough course schematic. For now, here’s what we can tell you:

  • Those competing in the foot/bike division will need to drop bikes before they sign in and pick up maps. The bike drop will open at 9:00am and is roughly 10 minutes from the start. You are welcome to leave foot/helmets/bike shoes with your bike. Anything you leave at the bike drop must be taken with you when you get to your bikes during the race.
  • Check-in will open at 9:30am. When you check in, you will receive course instructions and maps.
  • For those interested in brushing up on their map-and-compass skills, we will be offering a navigational clinic at 10:00am. You will want to retrieve your maps and instructions before attending the clinic.
  • We will start the pre-race briefing at 10:45am. The race will begin directly after and the course will be open for 5 hours.
  • Awards and snacks will follow immediately after the end of the race.

The gear list for the race is available here. Note the updated inclusion of bright colored clothing or packs. There may be hunting activity in parts of the course. Also, given the time of year, this could be a cold-weather event, and our gear list reflects that. Depending on your route choice, you may also find yourself getting wet. Please take these gear and clothing requirements seriously and be prepared.

Fee Update

Those of you who have participated in previous USARA-sanctioned events will recall a mandatory $8 licensing fee. The USARA recently approved a proposal to waive such fees for select shorter adventure racers, and this falls falls within the parameters of those exemptions. So, you will NOT be required to purchase a USARA license to participate in this event.

You’ll hear from us again the week of the race, but in the meantime, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Looking forward to seeing you in the woods!
