Stockville Racer Update #1


Check-in and Lodging

Check-in for this year’s race will take place at the Big Flat Parking Area in Biglerville, PA. This will show up on Google Maps, and we’re attaching a screenshot here as well. If you’re looking for a hotel for Friday night, we recommend Shippensburg or Gettysburg. That said, we have secured a permit for free camping that night, right at the start. There will be toilets available at Big Flat, but no infrastructure or amenities, so keep that in mind in your planning. Also, if you’re camping, we ask that you be mindful that this is a state forest, and as such alcohol is prohibited.

Registration will open at 7:00am on Saturday. When you check in, you will receive course instructions and maps for Day 1 (you will receive maps for Day 2 on Sunday morning).


The gear list for the race is available here. Please note the inclusion of bright clothing or pack. This is hunting season in PA.

Also, we expect chilly temperatures overnight. Make sure to bring appropriate gear to keep yourselves safe and comfortable for the duration of the weekend.

You’ll see that we will be transporting tents and cooking gear. Please have a bag for us to transport your gear, properly labeled. We’ll be checking these bags at registration. We ask that you respect the spirit of the event and pack lightly. We don’t want to see any 6-person tents for two-person teams or portable grills, and we reserve the right not to transport equipment if your bag is unreasonable in size or weight. We have various priorities for race day and if we need to make several additional trips to mid camp with equipment because some teams bring yurts or grills, we won’t be able to accomplish other tasks we need to focus on. So, please be reasonable!

Food Considerations

We will have hot cocoa, s’mores, and grilled cheese (one per person) at mid-camp, and pizza and drinks at the finish. We will also have water available for cooking on Saturday night. Beyond that, you are responsible for food and water for the duration of the event.
