Endless Mountains Adventure Race Lite (30-hour)
“We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.”
~T. S. Eliot

Our permit for this event is a joint one with the 5-day EMAR. Our permit will cap numbers in conjunction with the multi-day event. While we hope and expect to open this Lite edition to more than 50 people, we are currently capping the event at 50 racers until we have a clearer sense of how big the multi-day race field will be. The first 50 racers to sign up will have a guaranteed spot in the Lite event, and then we will start a wait list. We do expect to host a bigger field than the 50 and will hopefully be able to open the wait list this winter. That said, no guarantees, so sign up today!
The 30-hour Endless Mountains Adventure Race Lite is a one-day expedition-style event that will take racers on a journey through the Pennsylvania Wilds. Trek, bike, packraft, and navigate along the state's sweeping vistas, cascading waterways, rich history of our nation's complex industrial past, and rugged (and often rocky) terrain.
As an expedition-style event, Endless-Lite will offer longer stages, a point-to-point format, and more self-sufficiency - both an accessible entrypoint into the world of multi-day racing and a standalone adventure in its own right!
The race will take place on Monday, June 26, coinciding with the start of the five-day Endless Mountains Adventure Race, a qualifying event for the Adventure Racing World Series. Line up alongside some of the top adventure racers in the world (and those who are setting off on their first expedition race) and get a taste of what Pennsylvania's Endless Mountains have to offer.
CAMPING: Racers are encouraged to reserve a spot at the Crooked Creek Campground in Gaines. PA, the host site for the 30-hour event.
AIRBNB: The area around Gaines is a popular tourist destination for outdoor enthusiasts, and there are a number of Airbnb options throughout the region.
OTHER LODGING: Your best bet for hotels and motels will be in Wellsboro, PA, about 20 minutes east of Gaines.
For food and gas check out Wellsboro to the east or Galeton to the west. Wellsboro is a bigger town with a number of restaurant options as well, though many of them close on the early side. Plan accordingly.
For last minute gear needs, look into Wild Asaph Outfitters in Wellsboro.
The closest, larger store is the Walmart in Mansfield, 40 minutes east of Crooked Creek.
Time TBD: late afternoon or early evening - Registration and map distribution
Racers will depart at a time TBA for an 8:00am start.
2:00PM - Finish line closes. Awards and pizza will follow shortly after.

Team Limit and Wait List
We are in the process finalizing our permit for the Endless Mountains with DCNR. The permit will be a combined one for both the five-day and thirty-hour event and will have a participant cap, still to be determined. Because of this, we have opened the thirty-hour registration for the first 50 racers and then will start a wait list. Pending on sign-ups for the five-day and final permit numbers, we will invite more teams to join the thirty-hour event as space allows. Sign up quickly to guarantee your entry or to claim an early ticket on the waitlist!
Distances and Disciplines
DISTANCES: Distance estimates are approximate; actual routes may vary considerably depending on navigation choices (and mistakes). There will be modified, short-course routes for teams that are less experienced in the sport. Estimates are for the complete, full-course and are subject to tweaks based on final scouting.
